Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Rubbish Collection Ealing in respect of the current financial year. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to uphold human rights, protect vulnerable individuals and actively work to identify, address and prevent any form of exploitation associated with our business activities.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Rubbish Collection Ealing provides waste and recycling collection services to households, businesses and public sector clients within Ealing and surrounding areas. Our operations rely on a range of suppliers, including vehicle and equipment providers, personal protective equipment suppliers, facilities management services, agency labour providers and waste processing and recycling partners.
We acknowledge that risks of modern slavery can arise where there are lower wage roles, outsourced services, complex subcontracting or international supply chains. Accordingly, we are committed to improving visibility of our supply chain and working only with organisations that share our values and demonstrate robust labour and human rights standards.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
We maintain a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking, including forced labour, debt bondage, child labour, servitude and exploitation of vulnerable workers. This applies to our own operations, our subsidiary activities and every tier of our supply chain.
We expect everyone working for and with Rubbish Collection Ealing to uphold this commitment. Any breach of this policy by an employee will be treated as a serious disciplinary matter and may result in dismissal. Where a supplier, contractor or partner is found to be involved in, complicit in or knowingly ignoring modern slavery, we will take immediate and appropriate action, which may include termination of contracts and reporting concerns to relevant authorities.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are strengthening our supplier due diligence processes to reduce the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains. New and existing suppliers are required to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, employment and human rights laws and that they do not use forced, compulsory or trafficked labour in any form.
We reserve the right to conduct audits or request information from suppliers to verify compliance with these expectations. This may include on site inspections, review of labour practices, verification of right to work documentation, and assessments of recruitment and subcontracting arrangements. Where we identify gaps, we will work with suppliers to develop corrective action plans, with clear timescales for improvement. Persistent non compliance or lack of cooperation will lead to reconsideration or termination of the business relationship.
Employee Awareness and Reporting Channels
Rubbish Collection Ealing is committed to fostering a culture where concerns about modern slavery can be raised safely and acted upon promptly. Employees, agency workers, contractors and any other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery in our operations or supply chains.
Concerns can be raised through line managers, senior management or designated HR contacts. We also support confidential reporting through an internal whistleblowing channel, which can be used without fear of victimisation or retaliation. All reports will be taken seriously, investigated promptly and handled with appropriate sensitivity and confidentiality. Where necessary, we will cooperate fully with law enforcement and relevant authorities.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to continuously improving our policies, procedures and oversight. This includes reviewing our risk assessments, strengthening supplier onboarding, enhancing contract clauses, and providing information and guidance to staff with procurement or people management responsibilities.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management to ensure it remains accurate, effective and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. The review will consider any incidents reported, outcomes of supplier audits, changes to our business model, and feedback from employees and stakeholders. Where improvements are identified, we will update our processes and communicate these changes internally and to relevant external partners.
By issuing this statement, Rubbish Collection Ealing reaffirms its commitment to operating ethically, treating people with dignity and respect, and playing an active role in eliminating modern slavery and human trafficking in our sector and beyond.
